Visits the
World Festival for Island
Cultures-Jeju Korea
'From Island to the World'
Della and Dale, representing Canada visited Jeju island,
Korea, an island rich in natural beauty and traditional
cultures. They arrived to take part in the 2nd World Festival
for Island Cultures being held on Jeju Island. Twenty-seven
Islands from many parts of the world have come together
to share their cultures and to build friendships across
the oceans. Go to this page and click on the island and
see the slide shows of the Festival performances photographed
digitally by Dale Bertrand with the help of Della Burford
of Dodoland.
The festival intends to celebrate a new era of solidarity
and prosperity, as well as the harmony between Island cultures,
people and nature. Jeju Island also has plans to become
an international Free City through which human resources,
capital, information and culture will move freely.
The host of the festival is the Organizing Committee of
the World Festival for Island Cultures-Jeju 2001 and some
of the main sponsors are: MOFAT, MOGAHA, MOCT, KNTO, Jeju
Provincial Govt, WTO, PATA, UNESCO, ASTA and KJCC.
